486 of the public toilets on the national map are at beaches. New South Wales holds the most at 133 — 27% of the national figure — ahead of Western Australia (109) and Victoria (97). The smallest recorded total is Northern Territory, with 3. Australian Capital Territory records none at all. They sit in 345 named towns across 348 recorded areas.

The largest clusters are at Whitsundays (7), Mornington (6) and Scarborough (6). Those 3 account for 19 of the 486; a further 255 towns record exactly one. The single busiest is Whitsundays, QLD.
