Of the 486 public toilets at beaches on the national map, 47 are in Tasmania. That makes it the fifth-largest state total, behind New South Wales (133), Western Australia (109), Victoria (97) and Queensland (64). They sit in 40 named towns.

The largest clusters are at Black River (5), Dodges Ferry (2) and Low Head (2). Those 3 account for 9 of the 47; a further 36 towns record exactly one.

The list takes in Peggs Beach 4 on Bass Highway, Peggs Beach, Bellerive Beach and Beach Road (Ulverstone Surf Club). Around Black River the listings run to Peggs Beach 6, Peggs Beach 5 and Peggs Beach 2.

Of the 47, 10 have a shower, 26 have parking on site and 25 are recorded as wheelchair accessible. That is 5% of every public toilet recorded in Tasmania (966 in total), and 6% of those open 24 hours.
